Stokkies are prepared as thin strips of beef. Oz Biltong use premium MSA Topside and marinated in a blend of premixed spices imported directly from South Africa. Vinegar, salt and our authentic spices are added prior to our unique curing process, not spiced after, unlike most who remanufacture. Consequently, we retain a lot more moisture in our Biltong product. The best way to retain the products, as purchased, is to place it in the freezer in an airtight container to prevent freezer burn. When you ready to eat it, simply take it out for a couple of minutes and it’s ready to be eaten.

The word ‘Biltong Stokkies’ is derived from the Dutch words “bil” (buttock), “tong” (strip or tongue) and "stokkies" (little sticks). It’s essentially a strip of meat born out of survival when the Dutch arrived in South Africa.
